The risk of someone at a food processing facility getting sick is very real, in some cases, this may lead to them contaminating some of the products coming out of the plant. There are measures in place to protect consumers and workers but there is still room for errors to occur that would endanger the public at large.

The delivery network America has for food and other goods rely heavily on people to get things around. This network is at risk due to the Coronavirus and other outbreaks that the country may face in the future. This network is crucial and without it, there would be nothing but chaos, the government needs to work on securing it with new technology and smart policy.

4.) Supply Chain changes

With the Coronavirus outbreak, we saw several major disruptions to the supply chain, some of them were caused by China hoarding supplies while others revealed issues deep in the system. Many began buying goods that were shelf-stable so they would not have to go out as often, this coupled with the fact that restaurants were no longer buying fresh produce stores had to throw out meat and vegetables that people were no longer buying

5.) Immigrant Workers

A big issue in the agricultural industry is the reliance on immigrant workers. In times like this where immigration is halted these roles need to be filled in the time period. This also raised the question of if we should even be hiring immigrant workers for positions American’s could be taking. This would mean paying them more due to the way US law works, this would also mean that we would see a rise in costs for food across the country.
