Nor can they efficiently track where the separated chemicals of the oil are or what sea life has and will continue to be affected by them. Each individual who eats seafood and/or feeds seafood to pets, livestock, etc. to take precautions and use common sense. As can be seen by the list of seafood below, it is a daunting task to stay clear of possibly toxinous seafood. And how can honest disclosure among seafood vendors be insured? I believe the answer is Caveat emptor, "Let the Buyer beware".
Eatible seafood indigionous to the Gulf of Mexico and Southeastern Atlantic Ocean include, but are not limited to, the following:
Amphibians: Frog legs
Crustaceans: Bluecrab, Lobsters, Crayfish, Shrimp
Mollusks: Oysters, Octopus, Squid
Fish:
Anchovies: Bay anchovies
Bass: Black sea bass, Striped bass
Catfish (Note: Farm raised catfish may be safer to eat)
Cod: Atlantic cod
Flouder: Southern flounder
Mullet: Striped mullet, White mullet
Sturgeon: Alantic sturgeon
Trout: Spotted sea trout, Speckled trout, White trout
Mackerel: King mackerel, Spanish mackerel. Wahoo mackerel
Shark: Black tip shark, Hammerhead shark, Sand shark, Thresher shark
Tuna: Skipjack tuna
Snapper: Vermillion Snapper
