Possible Government Complicity in Coronavirus Pandemic Revealed

Because much of what conservatives call the “mainstream media” ignored the story, it took a question from a NewsMax reporter during a Presidential briefing to reveal to most Americans that our government has been funding the Chinese research facility in Wuhan, China that may have been the source of the Covid-19 virus that has killed more than 150,000 people worldwide.
The President, the reporter and others have charged that the NIH has been providing grant monies to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for some years including an NIH grant of $3.5 million approved during the Obama Administration by non-other than Dr. Anthony Fauci, but critics of the Trump Administration have pushed back arguing that no monies have gone directly to the Wuhan laboratory and that part of however much they eventually received had Trump Administration approval.
Actually, we will probably never learn just how much taxpayer money has been shipped to Wuhan because as is all too typical in Washington, the grant didn’t go directly to the Wuhan lab, but to an intermediary in this country which, in turn, funded the research on virus research in Wuhan. The US grantee is a New York-based non-profit known as the Eco-health Alliance which has received nearly six million dollars in NIH grants over the last decade and has been a staunch defender of the integrity and safeguards within the Chinese research facility.
What we do know is that some of these funds went to Wuhan after the State Department warned in 2018 that conditions at the laboratory were substandard and potentially might allow the escape of a dangerous virus. It hasn’t been proven that the Covid-19 virus escaped from the lab because of those conditions and the Chinese have refused either any inspection of the laboratory itself since the beginning of the pandemic or to confirm that research on the killer virus taking place at the lab.
We also know that the Chinese Communist government has lied from the beginning about when the first case was discovered in China, its ability to be transmitted from one victim to another and the real danger it represented for weeks. We also know that the regime closed down and “cleaned” the wet market near the lab that was suspected to be the original source of the virus so that no research could be done to verify or refute that suspicion, shut up, jailed and possibly even killed Chinese doctors who tried to raise a warning that what has happened was likely to happen.
We also know that those working with China have rallied to her defense, claiming that US suspicions about her behavior are unfounded or the result of irrational conspiracy buffs. Early on, the World Health Organization, whose director was chosen largely as a result of heavy-handed Chinese Communist backing, echoed Beijing’s line.
And we know that when the Trump Administration finally tracked down the way in which taxpayer funds were being channeled to Wuhan and shut down the grants to the Eco-Health Alliance, that organization’s officials continued to defend the Wuhan labs and argued that the research being done there was being done for the good of all.
Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida and Texas Senator Ted Cruz among others are demanding an investigation to get to the bottom of how much and why taxpayer’s funds were being sent by NIH through an intermediary to help pay for research at an unsafe Communist laboratory that could conceivably have been the source of the Covid-19 virus that has shut down the American economy and killed so many those very taxpayers.
