'OPEN SEASON' ON CHRISTIANS
Mat Staver
There is a dangerous new bill with fragments of the Equality Act embedded within its language. HR 1450 targets all religious freedom exemptions and eliminates them in favor of LGBT and pro-abortion claims. This shocking new bill is misnamed the "Do No Harm Act" and was debated yesterday in the House Education and Labor Committee.
Rep. Phil Roe (R-TN) made the point that this bill would force doctors like himself to take actions that they believe are wrong, such as performing abortions or transgender surgeries.
Apparently, it is not enough for abortion-minded women or those involved in LGBT conduct to obtain these services from the numerous available providers who don't have religious beliefs prohibiting such medical procedures. This bill will force every service provider, even religious ones, to bow their knee to the radical LGBT agenda.
One of our allies presented testimony that this legislation would cause an "open season" for government regulations to target religious groups. Democrat committee members smirked and openly laughed at this warning.
But this is no laughing matter. We cannot ignore this direct assault on our religious freedom. LCA has updated our fax system to fight this new strategy. We must stop radical Democrats from passing the "Equality Act" piecemeal through Congress. Help us fight this bill and other dangerous legislation today by sending an immediate fax to Congress.

Sadly, a representative of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) actually testified in favor of this bill. Rev. Jimmie Hawkins stated that the Christian faith needs to evolve. He made the unfounded and provocative statement that "the misuse of 'religious liberty' is costing lives and depriving individuals of basic human rights."
But the reality is the opposite. Abortion deprives a child of its most basic right to life. And mutilation of a physically healthy person, based on temporary mental confusion, is absolutely doing harm and is often irreversible.
Rev. Hawkins made the radical claim that it is "religious oppression" for a person to refuse to do an abortion or provide birth control. He went on to say that a person declining to offer services like abortion or birth control is "...making that choice for someone else, on the basis of one's own religious principles." This is an absurd, false argument that completely ignores the reality of life in the United States. There are many secular providers of abortion that have no conscientious objection to abortion.
In fact, this bill intentionally twists words. Radicals are trying to claim that "freedom" is "oppression." They are demanding that our laws force God-fearing Americans to do permanent harm—even the taking of innocent life—in a bill cynically titled "Do No Harm."
This bill uses fake "equality" language to make servants and slaves of religious people in America. It strips religious exemptions from every professional across our nation. Help us fight this horrific bill by clicking the button below to push back.

Our staff is on the front lines. Last week, we spoke at a joint press conference on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court, marking the four-year anniversary of the disastrous ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges. This ruling imposed same-sex "marriage" on America. We strongly denounced the deceitful language of the Equality Act, especially as we are also seeing fragments of its content spring up in multiple other bills.

As a part of this event, we helped former homosexuals share a message of hope for those who want to walk away from this dangerous, misguided lifestyle. These voices proclaimed the lasting freedom they have found in Christ.
Yet, we were met by rude and vulgar protesters trying to physically shout down this message of truth and hope. This type of bullying is exactly what LGBT activists want to unleash nationwide. It is a chilling preview of what would happen if government-enforced censorship becomes law. And the same effect can happen if fragments of the Equality Act's language are approved piecemeal in other bills.
Even in the face of bullying and abuse, LCA is committed to be an effective, professional and peaceful advocate for the family in America. Donate today to help us continue being a powerful voice on the front lines.
We are excited to be involved in restoring our nation and making sure that our freedom of speech is protected in America. Thank you for your support!
Blessings,
