Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) was the establishment’s choice for President. But even though he has dropped out, instead of supporting the GOP frontrunner, Rubio is making it clear that he’s going to unusual step to stop Donald Trump’s campaign!
Rubio is working tirelessly to try to keep his delegates, in preparation for a contested RNC convention this summer in Cleveland, Ohio.
Rubio aide Alex Burgos told MSNBC that while the Florida senator is “no longer a candidate,” he “wants to give voters a chance to stop Trump.”
When presidential candidates suspend their campaigns, typically their delegates become free to support the candidate of their own choosing at the convention. Rubio, however, has quietly been reaching out to party officials with a different approach.
He is personally asking state parties in 21 states and territories to refrain from releasing any of the 172 delegates he won while campaigning this year, MSNBC has learned.

Rubio and the establishment leaders were fine with telling conservatives they had to vote for Mitt Romney in 2012, after more conservative candidates lost. But it’s clear Rubio has his own set of rules, and is willing to ensure defeat to Hillary Clinton by stealing the convention from the grassroots’ favorite candidate.
Here is a letter that was leaked from Rubio to the Chairman of the Alaska Republican Party, asking for his 5 delegates to “remain bound to vote for him” at the convention, even though he’s no longer in the race.
