Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama, as Trump arrived Aug. 21
As many as 40,000 people crammed into Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama, to greet GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump Friday evening in what is being called the largest 2015 presidential primary campaign event of the season.
Some attendees traveled from as far away as Florida and California to attend.
Meanwhile, a Reuters/Ipsos poll on Friday showed Trump has widened his lead over fellow GOP candidates, as nearly 32 percent of Republicans say they support him – up from the 24 percent cited a week ago.
Amanda Mancini, who flew in from Los Angeles, told CNN she’s joining a new movement called “Women for Trump.”
“I wanted to be part of it,” she said. “I initially thought it was going to be small, and I thought Trump wouldn’t be coming to me in California, so I would have to come to him.”
Thousands more watched online. Even people in the Netherlands tuned in to see Trump.
Retired Marine Keith Quackenbush told CNN: “This isn’t about Republicans. It isn’t about Democrats. This is a movement of citizens across America tired of the BS.”

The Trump campaign was forced to change venues twice as the anticipated crowd swelled to sizes much larger than other locations could accommodate.
Trump opened the rally by speaking about immigration, saying he “took a lot of heat” for his comments on the issue early in his campaign.
“We have to do something,” he said. “We have to do something.”
The crowd went wild.
“We’re going to build a wall,” he said, and the crowd cheered with excitement.
Trump said 7.5 percent of all the births in America are from illegal immigrants.
“We can’t afford it,” he said.
He said America can “do something fast” about “anchor babies,” or the children of illegal immigrants who are given birthright citizenship.
Trump expressed gratitude for the crowd’s overwhelming support and jokingly called for an “expedited election” to be held Saturday.
“My whole being is to make our country rich and to make our country great again,” he told adoring fans. “In order to make our country great, I have to make it rich again. We’re a debtor nation! I just want to make this country so great!
“And that’s what’s going to happen,” he said.
Trump also promised, “I am going to be the greatest jobs president that God ever created.”
The loudest cheers of the night came when Trump declared, “I will rebuild our military! It will be so strong and so powerful and so great that we’ll never have to use it. Nobody is going to mess with us folks, nobody!”
The crowd went wild with chants of “USA! USA! USA!”
At the end of the rally, Trump exited the stage as the song “We’re Not Going To Take It” by Twisted Sister blared through the stadium and fans waved American flags.
Just before the rally, Trump had tweeted: “We are going to have a wild time in Alabama tonight! Finally, the silent majority is back!”
Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson told Laura Ingraham, “It’s got the city all stirred up.”
Some excited female fans wore Trump wigs to imitate the billionaire’s hairstyle. They also sported T-Shirts that said, “Obama, you are fired!”
Outside Trump’s plane, people waved at his motorcade and screamed, “We love you!”
One couple carried a sign that read, “Thank you, Lord Jesus, for President Trump.”
