John Bolton may be the next Fox News personality to leave television to make a White House bid, The Washington Examiner reports.

Bolton, a former U.N. ambassador under President George W. Bush, could exit the network soon, just days after former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee announced he would sever ties from his popular talk show as he considers a presidential run.

"John Bolton may be next," an anonymous source at Fox told the Examiner of his possible departure.

Bolton, 66, and a Yale-educated lawyer and American Enterprise Institute scholar, also served in the administration of Ronald Reagan. He was a foreign policy adviser to the presidential campaign of Mitt Romney, and is a Fox News contributor and deep critic of the Obama administration.

The national security expert and hawk was mentioned as a likely 2012 presidential contender but decided not to run. He continues, however, to be among those mentioned as a possible GOP candidate in 2016.

“My hypothesis is that voters are practical and they care more about national security than the media seems to believe; I think, right now, especially after two terms of President Obama, they want a president who has the know-how to lead during a crisis, a president who can defend our national interests,” Bolton told the National Review in an August 2013 interview, which discussed his interest in the presidency.
