James O'Keefe reveals attacks on opponent in wheelchair

A new video by James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas reveals supporters of Democratic, pro-abortion, Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis laughing about the disability of her Republican opponent, a paraplegic in a wheelchair.

Project Veritas, which investigates waste, fraud and dishonesty in government, released the video Thursday featuring members of the group Battleground Texas. The organization was established by Obama supporters to move the majority in Texas from Republican to Democrat.

Project Veritas recently caught Obamacare “navigators” agreeing to help obtain a private list of potential enrollee data for election and political uses.

The new video shows a volunteer for Davis, whose claim to fame is a filibuster in the state legislature against abortion limits that later were passed anyway, criticizing her opponent, Attorney General Greg Abbott.

“First of all, he’s not good looking,” said one volunteer. “He doesn’t speak very well. He doesn’t have a good personality. And he’s in a wheelchair.”

Another volunteer immediately started laughing.

The video also shows Lisa Wortham, a deputy voter registrar, saying: “I’m really wondering how this is going to work out, since he’s in a wheelchair, and the slogans are ‘stand with Wendy.’”

Wortham is shown being asked about forging signatures on absentee ballots. She covered her ears and then went on to admit, “People do that all the time.”

Battleground Texas volunteer Celeste Grahm then added, “I don’t think it’s legal, but I didn’t hear you say that.”

Thursday afternoon, O’Keefe tweeted, “Breaking: Wendy Davis responds to video: ‘The language used in this video about Greg Abbott is abhorrent.”

The video comes just days after a controversy erupted over Davis’ statement that her opponent has “never walked a mile in my shoes.”

Abbot was 26 when he was severely injured by a falling tree while jogging and confined to a wheelchair

LifeNews.com reported this week Abbott recounted his story at a National Right to Life convention, noting the injury reinforces his pro-life stance.

“As I laid there motionless on the ground, gripped with pain, as helpless as a child in the womb, I knew my life had changed forever. Some people think it’s easy to write off the lives of the disabled or the different. But every day, God reminds us that all life has value, no matter the form.”

Davis’ comment about walking a mile in her shoes have drawn some negative reaction. On Twitchy, under the headline “Gaffetastic: Wendy Davis invites opponent to walk a day in her shoes,” David Freddoso said, “If you’re running against someone who’s paralyzed, there’s just ONE THING you need to avoid saying.”

Added Kelly Maher: “Pretty sure a response to a paraplegic using the phrase ‘walk a mile in my shoes’ is not poll-tested.”

O’Keefe’s organization is known for its undercover video and sting operations.

He recently exposed how journalists with the newspaper that revealed the addresses of gun-permit holders in the New York City area were unwilling to take a dose of their own medicine and declare their homes “gun-free zones.”

O’Keefe also has produced a video to expose the double standards of Hollywood celebrities and filmmakers who support President Obama’s gun control agenda.

Among those confronted with a request to sign onto an effort to remove all guns from movies was Piers Morgan, who made a brief foray into the top-tier rankings at CNN by badgering guests over their support of gun rights.

O’Keefe’s undercover agents approached one of Morgan’s Hollywood properties and discovered a sign that said: “Protected by Armed Response Security Systems.”

The agents also reached out to Morgan on a public street, asking if he would sign an “Act Against Arms” pledge to have guns edited out of past and future movies.

Morgan was willing to accept information about the campaign but would not sign on.
