Food Safety ACTION ALERT;
Stop the FDA's War on Small-Scale Farmers
and Food Producers
July 18, 2013
Dear Citizen for Health,
In 2010 we at CFH fought hard to stop the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), an effort to combat food contamination resulting from the unhealthy livestock farming practices of industrial suppliers. We pushed for inclusion of the Tester-Hagan Amendment exempting small businesses such as family farmers, organic growers, farmer's markets, food artisans and local suppliers from the financial burden of reporting requirements explicitly crafted to regulate large industrial facilities.
Now the FDA is proposing rules that make it very easy for the agency to force even small-scale farmers to comply with the extensive, burdensome FSMA regulations, and all but impossible for such farmers to protect themselves.
Click the green box below to read more and to stop the FDA's effort to undermine this important exemption nearly 2 years after your voices were heard and heeded.
Thanks, as always, for your participation.
